National Volunteer Week 2011

JFCY would like to mark National Volunteer Week 2011 by acknowledging its amazing and dedicated volunteers. In addition to its small full-time staff and various academic placement students from local high schools and universities, JFCY is fortunate to have a variety of youth and adult volunteers to help us fulfill our mandate, most notably in the area of community development and public legal education. JFCY has had hundreds of volunteers over the years.

JFCY would like to thank its many YOUTH volunteers who are currently active, including:

Youth Action Committee: Cindy, Fiona, Martina, Mei Ling, Patricia, Rene, Rina, Sally and Shannon.

Public Legal Education Committee: Jenny, Yasmin, Adiba, Alisha, Arif, Diana, Jasmine, Jennifer, Lucas, Terence, and Tracy.

These volunteers bring energy, effort and context to the work that JFCY does.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Hot off the Presses: JFCY Spring Newsletter!

With much excitement we present to you the JFCY Spring Newsletter!

This is the product of much hard work on the part of the Public Legal Education (PLE) Committee.

The theme is "House Parties". In the newsletter, we discuss all the legal issues that can arise during the course of a social event, in this case, a House Party. The theme was selected by the High School students on the Public Legal Education (PLE) Committee.

We've distributed the newsletter widely to staff at 77 legal clinics in Ontario and have received a warm reception. The newsletter will serve as a useful resource for various agencies who work with youth and for JFCY lawyers when they do workshops and drop-ins at schools.

The newsletter has a fun layout, lots of graphics, a comic and fun games. Check it out here!
